Maker: Unknown. It is said that 'Ladies-in-Waiting', created these dolls in the spring.

Material: Gofun (oyster shell paste) face over sawdust and wheat starch compound, could be a straw/cloth covered body. Silk and rough linen. Hair appears to be silk. Wood hands.
Features: Antique Gofun Asian Oriental Japanese Hina Dairi-bina Imperial Male/Prince Doll is of quality construction. The Imperial male has typical black dots at forehead, enamel eyes, long black hair, both arms bent in front of his abdomen, right hand expressing a gesture. Not completely sure this one originally came with his ornamental head-dress/crown. His costume is of a heavy rough linen with 'bib' front, 5 or 6-layered collar and ribbon decorated sleeves. He rests on a wood stand painted black. Included in this listing is the doll/figure on platform. What is seen in the photographs are in this listing. This may or may not be from the same time-period of the female in another listing I am putting up today.
Size: Approximately 11 inches (27.5 cm) in height on platform. Doll is approximately 9 inches (23 cm) in height. Depth is 4 inches (10 cm) at deepest point and 9 inches (22.75 cm) at width of clothing.
Age: Late-Edo - Early-Meiji Era.
Condition: Condition is subjective but item does appear to have been well cared for. Elaborate and beautifully designed clothing. Used condition. Repair to the cracks in the neck and loose pieces of the clothing glued back in place. Insect bore holes on head. The end back segment of the fan is disconnected from the rest of the fan at the bottom. Pictures are part of description. Email contact seller if you have any questions on this item.
