Product Description
This single-disc compilation captures the best of Kris Kristofferson's recordings for the Columbia label better than its American or Canadian counterparts. While it goes into far more detail than the single-disc collection that has long been the standard,, it doesn't get bogged down in the filler that exists on the Essential Kris Kristofferson double-disc set either, happy to walk a far more potent and widely brushed line between them. Virtually none of the handful of huge hits is missing, and many of the lesser ones, such as "The Pilgrim: Chapter 33," the lovely duet with then-wife Rita Coolidge on "Please Don't Tell Me How the Story Ends," and another with Dolly Parton on "Put It Off Until Tomorrow," are included. This set also walks a midline price point between the single and double-disc American versions, and virtually every one of its 23 tracks scores big. ~ Thom Jurek
