Postal history was made on August 1, 1963, when the eight-cent air mail stamp (which was introduced the year before) was released with luminescent tagging as an aid to sorting mail electronically. This was the first "tagged" stamp in US postal history, and while not really a "first day of issue," covers were stamped with a special "first day of use" cancellation.

This is a lot of 10 of these "first day of use" covers, all unaddressed and all handsomely cacheted by KJM. You don't often see KJM cachets, and that's why this offer is attractive to the FDC collector! KJM recently sold their archives to us, and we will have several other sets of KJM cachets listed in the near future. Search within our listings for "US FDC KJM" to see those offers.

Note: serious collectors can use these covers as an aid in determining if a piece is tagged or not. The stamps on these covers are all tagged, and you can use these for comparison purposes.
