Collection of ten 1980s blockbusters. 'Footloose' (1984) tells the story of city kid Ren McCormick (Kevin Bacon) who moves to a Bible belt town where rock music and dancing have been banned by the local hell-fire preacher. Ren rebels in a series of spectacular dance sequences and in doing so causes the preacher to question his narrow mindedness. 'The Naked Gun' (1988) is a big screen spin-off of the spoof detective series 'Police Squad'. Bungling Los Angeles police lieutenant Frank Drebin (Leslie Nielsen) is investigating potential drug smuggler Vincent Ludwig (Ricardo Montalban) when he falls for the magnate's attractive secretary, Jane Spencer (Priscilla Presley). Eddie Murphy plays fast-talking Detroit cop Axel Foley in 'Beverley Hills Cop' (1984). Axel's regular assignments include tracking down cigarette thieves but when a friend is killed, he begins an unofficial investigation which leads him to Beverly Hills, where he runs into trouble with the straight-laced police force who disapprove of his anarchic methods. However, with the help of fellow cops Rosewood (Judge Reinhold) and Taggart (John Ashton), he tracks down the killers. Matthew Broderick plays Ferris, a kid who bunks off school, in 'Ferris Bueller's Day Off' (1986). He then takes his best friend Cameron (Alan Ruck) and girlfriend Sloane (Mia Sara) off to spend a day out on the town. After a series of misadventures, he has to make it home before his head teacher finds out (or his sister drops him in it). 'Trading Places' (1983) tells the story of bored, millionaire brothers Randolph and Mortimer Duke (Ralph Bellamy and Don Ameche) who make a wager on whether two people from opposite ends of the social spectrum can adjust successfully if they trade places. To this end, they engineer the rise of streetwise tramp Billy Ray Valentine (Murphy) and the fall of Louis Winthorpe III (Dan Aykroyd), a pompous yuppie who works for them on Wall Street. However, when the two guinea pigs find out what has happened, they join forces with smart hooker Ophelia (Jamie Lee Curtis) and loyal butler Coleman (Denholm Elliott) to plot their revenge. 'Flashdance' (1983) stars Jennifer Beals as Alex Owens, an 18-year-old welder from Pittsburgh, whose one ambition is to become a professional ballerina at the Conservatory of Dance. In the meantime, Alex is forced to work as a cabaret artist in the evenings, struggling against the odds to achieve her dream. 'Airplane' (1980) is a disaster movie spoof from writer/directors Jim Abrahams and the Zucker brothers. Former fighter pilot Ted Striker (Robert Hays) hasn't flown since an error of judgement, on his part, led to the decimation of his squadron during the war. Now he has a drink problem and his air hostess girlfriend, Elaine Dickinson (Julie Hagerty), has walked out on him. Desperate to get her back, Ted follows her onto her next flight; however things go wrong when the crew are stricken down with food poisoning. With the help of Elaine, the unflappable Doctor Rumack (Nielsen) and his former nemesis Rex Kramer (Robert Stack), Ted makes a valiant effort to fly the plane to safety. In 'Crocodile Dundee' (1986), Paul Hogan stars as Mick, an Australian bushman assigned to take care of New York journalist, Sue Charlton (Linda Kozlowski), on assignment in the Outback. Attraction quickly flares between them and when Mick saves the young woman from the jaws of a marauding croc, she asks him back to the States where he is an instant hit with jaded New York society. Mick soon learns that bush tactics also work in the urban jungle. 'Planes, Trains and Automobiles' (1987) stars Steve Martin as Neal Page, a stressed executive, who forms an uneasy alliance with Del Griffith (John Candy), a bluff travelling salesman, when their plane is grounded due to bad weather. Del offers to share a hotel room with Neal while they wait for the storm to subside, and Neal accepts. But from this point on the two seem to be stuck with each other, as they come up against a series of unlikely obstacles which continually and comically frustrate their attempts to get home for Thanksgiving. 'Pretty in Pink' (1986) is a teen movie starring Molly Ringwald as Andie Walsh, a poor girl with lots of spirit, who is obsessed with rich kid Blane McDonough (Andrew McCarthy). In the face of adversity, love cuts across the material divide, much to the disappointment of the amiably eccentric Ducky (John Cryer), who is secretly in love with Andie. However, he becomes instrumental in bringing them back together when external pressures threaten their relationship.
