This is a Vintage 8" Mid Century Lava Era Orange Pitcher.

This heavy, substantial piece is 10 1/4" high with a 6" wide base and a 9" maximum width.  It weighs just under three pounds.  This great looking piece has a very organic look and appeal with incised designs, glazed with the same orange used on the upper section and interior.  It looks to me like this piece was hand made / hand thrown, as evidenced by slight depressions on the inside at the corresponding locations of the orange decorations on the outside, as if these were individually pressed out slightly from the inside.  You can somewhat see what I am trying to describe on the photo of the inside.

There is no maker's mark on the bottom and we do not know specifically where the pitcher was made.

Condition

There is a 1/2" x 1/2" section where the outer, rough, speckled finish is missing adjacent to the bottom edge, and extending onto the bottom.  A pair of photos, show this anomaly from the side and bottom view, respectively, circled with blue arrows.  None of the edges feel sharp and the side wall of this area is planar.  This area, while not have the outer crackle, is glazed the same color as the rest of the piece.  Consequently, I thought it seemed more likely this is an artifact of the original creation rather than subsequent damage to the piece.  I cannot make any definitive statement about this, so please review the photos and make your own assessment of this issue.

The pitcuer is otherwise in excellent condition.
