This listing is for a pretty Wave Crest opal glass open tray with brass top rim with silver ormolu side "handles".
Measures 1 3/8" high (at handles) and 4" wide (at widest).
Opal Ware glass was at the height of its popularity from 1890 to 1910 and much of the opal glass known as Wave Crest was produced by the Mount Washington Glass Company and purchased by the C. F. Monroe Co. as undecorated glass blanks to be decorated by the artists employed there.
This attractive tray has a hand painted design consisting of small blue flowers with white "beaded" accents on the natural white opal glass background with a swirl pattern in the mold. The base is unmarked, however, we guarantee the item to be as represented.
The enameling is in good condition and there are no chips, cracks or repairs to the glass. The brass rim is in good condition with normal aged patina. The ormolu side handles are unusual in that they are silver metal rather than gilded brass as is more commonly found on these pieces. Tray may show wear as expected from normal use and age.
We have an extensive collection of Wave Crest items available in our eBay Store, so please check out our other great listings. Whenever possible we are happy to combine packing to save on shipping charges.
