This is copy number 58 of 750 deluxe copies, inscribed: “Charles Chaplin, with many pleasant memories, Daniel Frohman, 1935.” Chapter 39 in the book is entirely dedicated to Frohman’s memories of Chaplin and there is a full page photograph portrait of Chaplin in the photos section. Daniel Frohman 1851-1940 (along with his brothers Charles and Gustave) was was one of the leading New York and London theatrical producers as well as being an early film producer. It was Daniel’s brother Charles that hired Chaplin as a boy in 1905 to play the part of Billy in William Gillette’s play, Sherlock Holmes, on the London stage. Very good in original cloth.
