HANDSIGNED 5"x 7" BLACK & WHITE PHOTOGRAPH BY DINA MERRILL (1923-2017) WHO BEGAN HER CAREER IN MOVIES & TELEVISION IN 1955 AND APPEARED IN "THE PHIL SILVERS SHOW", "THE SUNDOWNERS", "RAWHIDE",  "MISSION IMPOSSIBLE", "ROOTS THE NEXT GENERATION" AND "MURDER SHE WROTE".
It would have been pretty darn difficult for actress Dina Merrill to have ever pulled off playing a commoner on stage, film or TV. She just had too much class. The epitome of poise and glamor, the New York-born socialite and celebrity was born in 1923 the daughter of financier E.F. Hutton, the founder of the Wall Street firm, and heiress Marjorie Merriweather Post of the Post cereal fortune. Although Dina has made elaborate use of her silver spoon privilege over the many decades, she has handled it all positively and graciously, and without tabloid incident. Instilling these same refined credentials into her femme characters, she originally did not intend to pursue acting. Studying at George Washington University, she suddenly dropped out after only a year (to the chagrin of her disapproving parents) after sensing a strong desire to perform. Enrolling at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, she apprenticed in summer stock in the early 1940s before reaching the Broadway boards with "The Mermaids Singing" (1945). After nearly a decade of theater roles and taking some time off to raise two children (her first husband was Stanley Rumbough, Jr., an heir to the Colgate toothpaste fortune)
 With her film career on the wane, Dina gravitated toward the usual TV guest spots, and went on to co-star on Broadway with the drama "Angel Street" (1975) and the revamped musical "On Your Toes" (1983).

WE ARE OFFERING AUTOGRAPHS OBTAINED OVER A 52 YEAR PERIOD. BEGINNING IN THE 1960'S, UPON MOVING TO CALIFORNIA MY PARENTS & I BEGAN VISITING THE HOLLYWOOD AREA ATTENDING A LOT OF HIGH PROFILE EVENTS SEEKING PHOTOS AND AUTOGRAPHS OF MOVIE, TV, AND MUSIC CELEBRITIES. WE ATTENDED THE ACADEMY AWARDS, EMMY AWARDS AND MOVIE PREMIERES. ALSO EVENTS SUCH AS THE "THALIANS BALL", THE "SHARE BOOMTOWN PARTY", AS WELL AS MANY CELEBRITY GOLF & TENNIS TOURNAMENTS IN THE LOS ANGELES AND PALM SPRINGS AREAS. WE ALSO ATTENDED THE TAPINGS OF MANY T.V. SHOWS OF THE TIME SUCH AS THE HOLLYWOOD PALACE, HULLABALOO, HOLLYWOOD SQUARES, THE RED SKELTON SHOW, THE ANDY WILLIAMS SHOW & MORE WHERE MOST CELEBRITIES WERE AVAILABLE FOR AUTOGRAPHS BEFORE AND AFTER TAPINGS. IT WAS A TIME WHEN ACCESS TO THE STARS WAS EASY. BASICALLY THERE WAS NO SECURITY AT THE EMMY AWARDS AND VERY LITTLE AT THE ACADEMY AWARDS & MOVIE PREMIERES.

IN THE 1980'S WE OPENED A RECORD STORE WHICH GAVE ME ACCESS TO MANY RECORD SIGNING EVENTS AT MY DISTRIBUTORS' LOCATIONS AND SOME EVENTS SPONSORED BY DISTRIBUTORS. WE ATTENDED HUNDREDS OF CONCERTS AND WERE ABLE TO MAKE OUR WAY BACKSTAGE AT MANY OF THEM WITH RECORD & CD COVERS IN HAND TO BE SIGNED.

ABOUT THIS TIME WE ALSO BEGAN TO ATTEND MANY CELEBRITY SHOWS AND AMASSED A GREAT COLLECTION OF SIGNED PHOTOS FROM MANY CELEBRITIES OF A BY-GONE AREA, MANY WHO HAVE SINCE PASSED ON.

WE ALSO HAVE HAD THE PRIVILEGE OF BUYING COLLECTIONS OF AUTOGRAPHS FROM INDIVIDUALS WHO EITHER WORKED IN THE ENTERTAINMENT BUSINESS (SOME AS EARLY AS THE 1920'S) AND OTHERS WHO HAD A BUSINESS IN THE HOLLYWOOD AREA WHICH WAS FREQUENTED BY CELEBRITIES. SOME OF THESE FOLKS KEPT THEIR AUTOGRAPH BOOKS AT THE FRONT COUNTER AND WERE READY TO ASK FOR A SIGNATURE WHEN A CELEBRITY CAME INTO THEIR SHOP.

WE RECENTLY PURCHASED A LARGE COLLECTION WHICH INCLUDED A PART OF THE COLLECTION OF AUTOGRAPH COLLECTORS & HISTORIANS HELEN & GEORGE SANDERS. THE SANDERS PUBLISHED "THE SANDERS AUTOGRAPH PRICE GUIDES".
