This Urginea (now called Drimia) maritima bulb is the largest bulb in the world! These grow to about 8" across, and up to ten pounds per bulb!

This is a fantastic succulent plant, and does very well in arid climates. We grow them in the ground here in Tucson, and they are cold hardy down to about 22F.

Urginea maritima is a very easy to grow plant. It gets a flower stalk (which can grow to 6' tall!!!) about August, and then blooms for a couple of months. Then around October to December, the beautiful foliage comes out, and stays until the heat of the summer, when it dies off and goes dormant. Then it comes back and starts the cycle all over again.

These particular bulbs are HUGE. You will receive a bulb that is from 4" to 6" wide! These bulbs are about TEN years old! This plant is currently DORMANT! Please don't buy if you don't understand this.

You will receive a bulb similar to what is shown in the first five pictures. The last three pictures are examples of the flower and foliage. The very last picture is of a 15 year old clump!

Please note that the roots shown will die off, and new ones will come out. These are VERY easy to grow. Just root them in a nice porus mix. Water when the soil is completely dry. Only water when it is in flower or has leaves, but not when it is dormant.

All plants are sent bare root, unless noted. We combine shipping! If you need heat packs, please let us know and we'll send a revised invoice. The heat packs are $4 each. It is the buyer's responsibility to let us know they need a heat pack!
