The map is very finely printed on thick paper, with no printing on reverse. The beautiful handcoloring on the map is period, his is before color printing. Surrounding the main map image are absolutely superb detailed engravings, related to these areas. The engravings are very finely detailed and attractive, a superb example of the lost art of the engraver. They show animals, foliage, various ethnic groups of this area, some allegorical figures related to these areas , agricultural, maritime, business and industry, manufacturing, history, products produced in this area and more, with detailed text charts related to this area as well. The map is from the very rare and important Atlas National, produced in Paris France in 1856. The map is in excellent condition, and would frame and display beautifully.
