When I personally tested this filter inside of the contourHD the glare was totally erased from any bright lights allowing you to see amazing detail, & the clouds in the sky looked much more detailed/defined than they ever looked before we developed this filter disk insert..

ITS EASILY REMOVABLE BY APPLICATION, & you dont want to use the filter in super low light conditions because of the dark tint which will darken the video.
REMOVE 1 SCREW ON THE CONTOURHD FRONT, THEN TWIST OFF THE LENS PROTECTOR COUNTER CLOCKWISE TO ALLOW FILTER INSTALLATION.
IT FITS NICE INSIDE OF THE LENS PROTECTOR, & HELPS CONTROL THE BRIGHT LIGHTING FROM REFLECTION OFF WATER, OR GLASS, & GLARE FROM STADIUM/CONCERT LIGHTING, OR HEADLIGHTS.

   
NOTE: We decided to tear into one of these units to see exactly what could be done to make it better, & thats how we came up with the filter disk insert by formulating it to the the cmos sensor!
The actual lens that gives you the wide angle view cannot be changed in the contourhd, believe me we tried.
The cmos chip is a 1/3"sensor
We dont suggest you tear your contourhd apart unless its just broken junk not in warranty anymore.
Then lens inside is worth saving if your camera is dead, worth about $25-35.00 m12 thread 2.8mm.
Another valuable piece that is salvageable.
You can easily replace the mounting slider grooves on the side of the unit if yours became damaged.
This is done by removing 7 screws 3 on each side of the camera, & 1 up by the front of the lens.
   

You can replace the mic if it burns out inside the unit.
