Pobjoy's Christmas Edition 50 Pence is back!
Featuring one of the world's favorite species in the Southern Hemisphere,
this coin depicts five fully colored Christmas Penguins.
Pobjoy is producing two versions of this coin. The first is a Colored Cupro Nickel Diamond Finish which is packaged in an adorable penguin Christmas card and has an issue limit of 7,500. The Second will be Proof Sterling Silver Piedfort which will have double the weight of a normal 50 pence piece.
On the reverse, we have used all five sub-species of Penguin which are indigenous to the Falkland Islands. From left to right the Penguins are The Southern Rockhopper, The King, The Macaroni, The Magellanic and The Gentoo crowded around a lantern. The design is surrounded by the Falkland Islands national flower, The Pale Maiden. The obverse features the exclusive Pobjoy Mint effigy design of HM Queen Elizabeth II.
The Falkland Islands are known as the penguin capital of the world with more than 1 million penguins nesting on the islands. The colored Cupro Nickel Diamond Finish coin will be available in a stunning Christmas card as is Pobjoy Mint's Tradition.
