It is with the greatest of pleasure that I offer here for ALL collectors around the world some of the most unusual and one-off UNIQUE items from the late Lord Boston of Faversham's (1930-2011)  collection of Queen Victoria related items, he had a most interesting life.  After serving in the RAF National Service and getting a Degree in Law, he joined the BBC where he produced current affairs programmes.  He was then called to the bar by the Inner Temple in 1960.  He was very much into politics and had been a member of the Labour party since he was 16.  He won the Faversham bi-election in 1964 and was created a life peer on Harold Wilson's resignation in 1976.  He spent 10 years being a chairman of a broadcasting company and then went back to Westminster where he served as Deputy Speaker until 2011.  Lord Boston was an avid collector and I used to bump into him at the live auctions.  Be assured all the items are from his vast personal collection.  We are all very fortunate to have the oppotunity to buy them once again. These will be gone in no time so please do not hang about...

This is probably the ONLY book of this 1888 year in existance with the Queen Victoria Royal Monogram.... as you can see it is a red leather covered book..it has seen plenty of use....... not whilst Queen Victoria owned it .....probably in later years .... the front and back covers are about the same condition with wear to the edge of the spine on both sides..you can see the top and bottom of the inner spine, where it has been taken in and out of a bookshelf many times....... as well as the corners and edges.. its down to the actual boards in places.... please do NOT let that put you off too much ..this book has a lot to offer the serious Royal collector and Museums alike.. titled  BRITISH ALMANAC and COMPANION 1888.
You will see it has the Queen Victoria Royal monogram - cypher ...
CROWN - VR  on both the back and front covers - boards with the fine gilt embossed tooling of the floral edge.... as well as the inner board edges and it has gilt page edges on all 3 sides.
Open the book... first inner covers are a yellow paper.. you can see the front board from here in the spine crease.. right down at the bottom of this first board it has a name printed in black .. its a little blurred ..but it says

HARRISON 59 PALL MALL  you will see this was a famous bookseller of the period to the Queen.
The next inner page has some hand writing in old dip pen ink.

This book belonged to Queen Victoria.
Love from Arthur July 9/19
..... the date is obscure... possibly being July 9 / 19.... I am only guessing here...you have a look and decide.

So this brings us to WHO would have been given this book in the first place from Queen Victoria, or access to it after she died...  to then have given it away again in 1919 ?
Well ....
Arthur,  of course could be anyone... a royal household servant.....although it is more likely to be a Royal relation ..... Prince Arthur her 3rd son (1850-1942) or  Arthur Ponsonby (1871 - 1946) who was Queen Victoria's Page of Honour ...but of course we will never know...it is more likely to be someone with a Royal connection in my opinion...again you can decide what you think.

Next is the title page
THE BRITISH ALMANAC ... 1888.... London published by THE STATIONERS COMPANY ...it has 96 pages .. then another TITLE page slightly differant sixty first year COMPANION TO THE ALMANAC or YEAR BOOK 1888.... with 288 pages.. there are NO pictures.. all text....the back page has the same yellow paper and you can see the board at the spine too.

This book has been ESPECIALLY bound for QUEEN VICTORIA ..... sometimes called a PRESENTATION COPY especially bound for the Monarch and Royal Library.
It is 4 and half inch wide x just over 7 inch long x 1 inch deep ....all pages intact....but see the photographs which can be enlarged..
