Here is a really interesting antique large leather bound book...the spine has the ribs and wording is on a maroon leather tooled and gilt.. BIBLE DE CALMET ....L ECCLES..
The book has worn edges and knocks to the leather ...but in remarkable condition considering when this was printed... 1730 in PARIS ... France. 
Front and back boards are good with their inner pages being the swirly typical Georgian design.
Next page...has some pencil wording here from the last seller or collector not sure.

Next page is blank .. then it has various size fonts and styles of writing on 2 pages.
Then the next page has a fine engraving picture at the top of the page of swirls and a large vase of flowers says PREFACE SUR LE LIVRE DE L'ECCLESIASTIQUE ....then carries on.. ARTICLE PREMIER then onto ARTICLE II - ARTICLE V and it seems to end with another smaller engraving of flowers. 
Next page has DISSERTATION ...and carries there after.. with other sub headings throughout. ... these pages are all numbered in the old way using Roman numerals.. and get to page XCVI .. and that all ends.. the next page has a picture engraving of an interior of a building.. with an ANGEL to the left hand side looking at a gentleman who is studying a book at a table.. they are in conversation.
Then the title says  COMMENTAIRE LITTERAL SUR LE LIVRE DE L'ECCLESIASTIQUE ...Prologue DE SAINT ATHANASE ( a ) SUR CE LIVRE....... this starts then on page 1 ... goes right thru to page 658 ... it says FIN DE LA TABLE DES MATIERES .... then a single page right at the end... CATALOGUE DES LIVRES.
The book will be of great interest to someone I am sure...it has not really been looked at I would have said.. as some of the pages were stuck together at the very tops.
The book is 10 inch x 8 inch x 2 and a quarter inch deep.

  • If you return the item because you've changed your mind, and  there is no error in the description, return postage will not be refunded.

 

  • UK BUYERS I accept CHEQUES in UK Sterling, PAYPAL or Cheque payments will incurr a DELAY in despatch, of 6 working days to clear.
