Dating from the late 1800s/early 1900s this is an exquisite antique French chateau portiere curtain that is a wonderful hand made confection.
Perfect for any period maison it has taken on a soft old tea coloured hue and it is perfectly chateau chic.
A mix of embroidered filet lace and crochet work the bottom edge is trimmed with gorgeous crochet ball trim.
The central embroidered filet lace panel has a rose vignette, the top sides border has applique crochet flowers and scrolled leaves, the base and lower sides is a wonderful array of acanthus leaf scrolls and flowers all in heavyweight linen threads in that superb soft warm hue.
The bottom edge is a mixture of hand knotted tassel fringes and cascading crochet balls.
The top still has brass curtain rings in place for hanging.

I have not laundered this and have left it just as I found it. There are a couple of brown marks at the base but they will lift with laundering.
