Ncie print of 1831 representing a turtle of the species Malaclemys terrapin taken from Dictionary of natural sciences edited by Battelli.
This imponent work was made up by 29 volumes and contained hundreds of prints that represented all the plant and animal kingdom.
This work derives from an excellent work of luminaries of the 18th century supported by the french King Louis XV and then directed by the same Turpin that was considered as the greatest botanical engraver of his time.
The most of his engravings are signed Turpin & Pretre.
The engravings are made in an excellent way with fine details and coloured by hand.
Very white strong paper of good quality.
In good conditions. Humidity stain in the upper edge.
