About the Veiled Lady Bust Statue
The Veiled Lady Bust Sculpture, after the antique masterpiece by Monti, 1875.Also known as the veiled bride or veiled maiden, this sculpture was created by the Italian sculptor Raphaelle Monti, who came to live and work in England, 1850. He established his name with the Veiled Lady bust sculpture, which was purchased by the Duke of Devonshire, and became part of the great Chatsworth house collection.
In 1875 the Duke gave Copeland permission to reproduce this subject in Parian ware (porcelain imitating marble), and Copeland commissioned Monti to make this bust for them.
