I always encourage people to view and test drive the cars before they bid but appreciate this is not always possible, especially when we sell cars all across the UK and beyond. In order to ensure you know what you are buying, we strive to give as accurate a description as possible. I apologise if the listing may appear long winded as a result, but hopefully it does give you a helpful guide as to how the car feels and performs as well as its condition and history. We test drive every car a minimum of 30 miles prior to writing each listing on a variety of roads. I appreciate everything is subjective but myself and my business partner have around 70 years experience between us which hopefully puts us in good stead to tell a good car from a bad one... The VW Beetle is a style icon and the convertible model, the ultimate feel good car for the summer. This listing is for a 2006 Beetle 1.6 "LUNA" convertible - A car which combines all the attributes of a regular bug with a cleverly designed soft top roof. If you crave Retro charm, but also value modern comfort and reliability our Beetle could be just what you're looking for. Finished in jet black this is a real head-turner with roof up or down. Yes, this car maybe 12 years old, but it is still looking good thanks to its timeless design and low mileage of 53k.
The Beetle is based on a VW Golf, which is no bad thing. It may look retro but this is a thoroughly modern car which shares the Golfs legendary reliability and frugal 1.6 litre engine. Performance is excellent and economy is also impressive, averaging 36 mpg overall with around 40 mpg achievable on the motorway. The ride comfort is excellent and there is VW's superb stability and traction control which aids the handling and stability. I personally prefer this engine over both the 1.4 and 2 litre units in the cabriolet as it offers good acceleration through the gears and barely any noise intrusion whilst still being relatively cheap to run. All the controls feel precise and well engineered - This thing feels as though it has been built to last. On all road surfaces I found the Beetle to ride very well. The suspension seems to soak up any road imperfections up with ease, and all the seats are comfortable yet supportive.
Of course this cars real purpose is to look stylish and distinctive. It certainly stands out in a crowd with its smart alloy wheels and gorgeous retro lines. At the touch of a switch the Beetles electric roof folds back in seconds. Roof up or down the Beetle is a good looking car. It is an iconic shape whose retro charm will always raise a smile and turn heads for all the right reasons - Everyone loves a Beetle and it's amazing how you always seem to get waved out of junctions with a smile when you're driving this car.
We will be supplying the Beetle with a long MOT until May 2019. All levels will be checked by a reputable local garage prior to sale. CONDITION;
Overall this is a smart looking car which is in overall excellent condition for its age and mileage. Of course it is a used car so there may be the odd stone chip and light mark if you look incredibly hard but all in all I find it hard to fault this car in any way - it has obviously been very well looked after by its previous keepers who lived locally. The coachwork is bright and straight with a deep shine and the alloy wheels are in good condition with excellent tyres all-round. This cars interior is well presented, odour and stain free and there is no notable wear to any switchgear or door cards. The roof is perfect and the roof action is smooth and fast - It feels like a quality product just as you expect with VW. All the electrics have been tested and are working perfectly. All in all this is a fantastic example for its age and price and is ready to enjoy. We welcome any trial or inspection.
HISTORY;
While this is a genuine 53k mile car (I have checked the VOSA history to validate its mileage) I only have a partial service history for the car. We do have all the original manuals and the original service book along with the 2 original remote keys. There are 5 stamps in the service book as follows;
