This listing is for a STUNNING 19th Century porcelain enameled and gilt decorated dresser box. This box has an elaborately hand painted courting scene on the top and in a medallion on the front and back of the bottom section. On each end of the bottom section is a hand painted scenic design. Each medallion is surrounded with a 24 K gold gilded design and a burgundy border with a elaborate gilt decoration around the outer edge of the top. The box has an unusual shape and the decoration has fine details. Marked with a variation of the Royal Austria beehive mark in blue under the glaze. Measures 3" high, 8 1/2" long and 4 1/2" deep. Weighs just over 1 pound.
This fabulous box is in very good Estate condition although there are a couple of minor issues. Under the rim on the bottom section is a faint chip that can't be felt or noticed on the top edge and on the curve at the end are a couple of very faint/tiny chips. The top of the box has a faint sliver of the porcelain missing on the edge of the lip that fits into the edge of the base. This is also hardly noticed and is definitely a no-harm flaw.
