Notes: In its stock form, the Radioshack PZM suffers from a cumbersome, under-powered battery, higher than acceptable distortion and lackluster bass response. It's also sensitive to hum fields. We begin by (literally) cutting the cord and eliminating the battery box on the end. You won't need it and certainly won't miss it. We construct a 48V phantom powered preamp circuit (from Uneeda Audio and housed inside a bare aluminum enclosure) with status LED indicator. The end result is a microphone with lower distortion, increased bass response and less sensitivity to hum fields - while running on 48V phantom power from your mixer / preamp! Not only is the mod practical but it makes these microphones sound pretty darn good. After the mod is complete, you can set these up permanently in a room (as many studios have) and utilize them whenever you'd like. Still not convinced? I guarantee my work until the end of time! That's right - if you should ever encounter an issue with the craftsmanship on my modifications or repairs, I will repair or replace free of charge! I don't strive to be the cheapest. I strive to be the best! My reputation speaks for itself.
