This listing is for a lovely 19th Century framed miniature watercolor portrait painting of an elderly woman wearing a red shawl over her head. The portrait has delicate, precise hand painted features with the figure possibly being a Nun. The portrait is signed, however, the signature is illegible. The oval portrait is held in place behind slightly convex glass with a brass/bronze bezel and is mounted in a hand decorated hand-cut piano key frame of the period with an attachment at top for hanging.
The frame measures 4 1/2" high, 4" wide and 1/2" deep with the oval site measuring 1 3/4" by 1 3/8". Weighs 3.7 ounces.
The painting is in excellent Estate condition with no noted flaws. There is some minor separation and faint cracks on the frame (see photos).
