Sculptures of Daikokuten's Hammer were displayed in homes as a wish for prosperity, particularly at New Year's. Daikokuten is one of Japan's seven lucky gods.  Often depicted as sitting on 2 rice bales holding his distinctive lucky mallet, Daikokuten is revered as a household protector of farmers and their land.  His mallet is an emblem of the working miner and the mineral wealth of Japan.  Believed to be magical, the hammer grants wishes and with a single hit, it can bring wealth and good fortune.

This ceramic hammer comes with its gold and red brocade pillow and a protective wooden box.  The hammer is 4 inches deep, about 10 inches tall by 6 inches wide, and is in excellent condition with no blemishes or flaws that I can see.  This item comes from a smoke-free home.  Ships insured in a box from a non-smoking home.
