-In Canada walleye are also called pickeral, most often in western Canada.
- It is a freshwater fish native to most of Canada and to the Northern United States.
- In some parts of it's range it is called walleyed pike, colored pike or yellow pike.
- The name walleye comes from the fact that the fish's eyes point outward, as if looking at the walls.
