Rare. Only found 3 copies held worldwide in libraries.


Disquisitio de chirothecarum 1701, is an interesting work pertaining to gloves, in many languages. (Not illustrated as published)

Condition:

Previous owners notations and ownership marks on the front endpapers: Ex libris Jacobi Goyers...anno 1776.

Bookplate of Beblotheca C. Van Baviere (Brussels) on the front pastedown endpaper as pictured. Top edges a bit fragile of first several pages from overlapping vellum and chipping.

Contemporary Vellum Boards soiled. Marginal tear front fly leaf. Front end page repair as pictured. Binding /signature loosening in the front, but boards attached. Binding shaken. Unsophisticated and rare. Soiling to edges. Edge wear to frontispiece. Pencil on title page. Paper age toned. Some minor browning. No writing in text. Page 145 chipped at bottom corner minor loss of text. Inside back cover end page tearing. Overall good. Occasional light foxing. A few decorative initials.

Measures 3 1/4 by 5 1/2" by about 1 3/4" thick.

The author, a German antiquities professor wrote numerous works on Jewish, Greek and Roman Antiquities.
