CONDITION: Undamaged Condition without chips, cracks, or mold damage. This pretty Celeste Blue Stretch Glass Guest set is extremely hard to find. It was made from 1917 into the early 1920s. Not many of these lovely 2 piece Guest Sets have survived. This set has beautiful color and a nice stretch finish. The applied Royal Blue (cobalt) handle is flawless. There are a few tiny common bubbles caught in the glass if you hold it up to light and look closely. This is to be expected but I wanted to make sure that I mentioned it.
Celeste Blue Stretch Glass (1933-1935) -
Judging by the different pieces made in this color, the blue iridized color Fenton called "Celeste Blue" must have been a favorite among the glass enthusiasts during the 1920s. Pieces in this color were introduced in 1917, and various pieces were added or deleted from the line throughout most of the rest of the next decade. Some of the more desirable and elusive items include the aquariums, the punch set, the high standard compote, colognes, and the handled guest set. Basket Weave with Open Edge pieces which are also sought after by carnival glass collectors bring premium prices. In 1995, as part of it's 95th anniversary celebration, Fenton re-introduced the Celeste blue color in the 90th Anniversary Collection. The pitcher and tumbler set are a modification the old Lincoln Inn pattern molds. Some of the new pieces are decorated with a hand-painted floral design called Coralene. All of the items were modified in some way and are easily distinguished from the old early 1900 pieces. © Margaret and Kenn Whitmyer
