Welcome to Antiques & Moore!

This listing is for a gorgeous porcelain plate in the style of 18th Century Chantilly Kakiomen designs. This plate does not appear to be as old as Chantilly production, however, the enameling and quality of the porcelain is outstanding. The colors used on the plate are true Chantilly colors and the enameling on the design is heavily applied with precise details and some of the soft red flowers have a touch of gilding. Perhaps made by Samson, Paris in the early 1800's rather than made by Chantilly a century earlier. The mark it carries is definitely not precise as we believe it would have been had it been an original Chantilly red hunting horn mark. We are not experts in 18th Century porcelain, so please view all photos and use your own discretion as to origin of plate.

The Chantilly Company was founded in France in 1725 and the red mark found on the plate would date the piece as First Period production (1725-1751). During this period the company's production was influenced by Asian designs in the Kakiemon palette of soft red, blue and green as found on this plate. Samson in Paris was a great potter in his own right but became famous for copying the earlier porcelain designs of Sevres, Chantilly, etc.

This nice plate is in excellent Estate condition with great color and no noted flaws.

Measures 1" high and 8 1/2" in diameter. Weighs 10.3 ounces.
