Basket is 16.7cms in diameter x 4.5cms high excluding the bird & quite heavy for it’s size, approx 408 grams. There are no identifying makers marks or foundry marks, but the construction and bird figure are very reminiscent of Austrian makers c1880s. The outer coating and colouring on the bird has started to deteriorate, with the plaster starting to show through in some small areas. This can easily be professionally repaired. Hints of paint can still be seen around the eyes and feathers. The bird is attached to the basket with a pair of screws.
