Welcome to Antiques & Moore!

This listing is for a nice antique panel cut glass toiletries bottle/jar with engraved floral Sterling Silver top, c. 1878. The round bottle has vertical panel cut design around the glass. The Sterling Silver lid fits onto the bottle correctly and is decorated with an elaborately engraved design around the outside border with cartouche in center with 3-letter monogram "H E L" with the initials one on top of the others. Underside of silver lid is marked with English hallmarks for London, Sterling, year date code for 1878 and with unidentified worn maker's stamp. This nice bottle was most likely part of a traveling toiletries set that would have been fitted into a wooden travel case.

The panel cut glass body is in very good to excellent Estate condition with no noted flaws although there are a couple of tiny no-harm internal air bubbles in the glass. The silver lid is also in very good condition with no noted flaws and reflecting only minor signs of normal wear. Please note that the lid appears to be original to this bottle and fits snugly but is not tight.

Measures 3" high and 1 3/8" in diameter. Weighs 4.0 ounces (as shown) with the Sterling Silver lid weighing 6.6 grams.
