Stunning Antique French Handmade Lace Coiffe Hat Womens Bonnet Late 1700s

A rare find in excellent antique condition considering its age. No holes just a couple of storage marks as photographed.  Totally handmade in the tiniest and neatest of stitches with petite pleats either side of the stiffened cotton brim (photo 4).  The wide and long brim is slightly transparent, so coy glances either side of her could be made for such a "pious" woman and without anyone noticing! To the back of the bonnet stitched also onto stiffened cotton is gorgeous precise embroidered lace motifs of tiny flowers and leaves. Two widths of stiffened cotton are attached for ties.  Perfect for re-enactments, Outlander/Handmaid's Tale etc!

An excellent example of this type of coiffe, probably saved for best or Church going by its condition.
