White County, Indiana

New! 87-Page Booklet

Early days in White County, IN, are recalled through a mixture of colorful tales, factual data and personal biographies in this new 8.5" x 11" spiral-bound booklet, printed on 60# opaque paper. The booklet is an excerpt from Counties of White and Pulaski Indiana Historical and Biographical, originally printed in 1883. A vinyl sheet protects the front cover.

Our 87-page booklet, which actually includes some 170 pages of the original text, is entitled:

(We have a separate booklet on the history of Pulaski County.)

Among the subjects discussed are: Physical Description -- Drift Deposits, Mound Builders; Indian Alarms; County Organization, Early Settlers; Early Elections, The Circuit Court; Population; Old Settlers Association; County Commissioners and other county and city officials; The Civil War (about 14 pages including the county's "Roll of Honor"; an ad for a husband; Union Township and Monticello, the county seat; Industries and businesses; Newspapers; Hans Hiorth and Peter Smith; Lodges, Schools, Churches; Prairie Township,Springboro and Brookston; Honey Creek Twp.and Reynolds; Jackson Twp., Burnettsville and Idaville; Princeton Twp. and the village of Wolcott; Monon Twp., the "dead" town of West Bedford, and the town of Bradford (or New Bradford); Big Creek Twp.; Liberty, West Point, Cass, and Round Grove townships.

*Although this booklet does not include individual biographies,  it does mention a lot of names.

We reprinted the booklet directly from an original edition, which unfortunately had smudge marks on some pages. Where these could not be removed without damage to the type, they remain in the reprint.

Wouldn't this make a unique gift?
