This is a nicely (possibly hand) made antique handle that mounts to the center of a box lid. The handle lies flat in either direction. The back plate is 4-1/2" long, 3/4" wide and has 4 screw holes for mounting. The overall height of the handle is 1-11/16". It is non-magnetic, but the metal is black, so it is hard to tell what it is. From examining the back of the back plate, it looks like it may be brass. The countersunk screw holes have a silver color to them, so the piece may be nickel plated. Also, the rivets that hold the handle to the back plate have a silver color to them. The piece has no markings. The edges of the back plate are beveled.
