Welcome to Antiques & Moore!

This listing is for a lovely antique French Art Nouveau crystal dresser box with gilt bronze mounts, c. 1890. The crystal body is hand blown and the top has a wide beveled edge and the base is decorated with a multi-cut start design. The box has a tight hinge and opens and closes correctly. The top is decorated with a a double gilt bronze decorative embossed collar. The top half of the bottom section is embellished with a gilt bronze decoration with ribbons and bows and with ram's head masks in relief with hanging floral swags. This piece was most likely purchased from the Palais Royal area of Paris during the Grand Tour era at the end of the 20th Century when travel to Europe was popular. This piece was possibly part of an extensive group of dresser items that could be purchased separately and would be a nice ladies dresser or desk accessory.

Measures 2 1/2" high and 4 1/4" in diameter.  Weighs 15 ounces.

This nice dresser box is in excellent Estate condition with no noted flaws. The gilt bronze finish on the exterior is bright and free of damage, however, there is minor wear to the gilt finish on the inside rim of the bottom section. Although the box closes securely, there is a slight gap noticeable between the top and bottom sections when viewed from the front.
