This listing is for a lovely pair of Victorian Era French marcasite (cut steel) decorative shoe clips, c. mid-late 1800's. These stylish and unusual buckles can be fashioned today as scarf decoration or hair clips for a unique and elegant accessory. The clips have a slight curve across the center and have a single brace/bar across the back. Marcasites are often called stones but are actually made using a cut steel fabrication with a diamond-like glitter and are applied generally to silver-toned metal. Each clip is marked on the top of the brace "Made in France".
Measure 2 1/8" long and 1 3/4" wide. Combined weight is 1.3 ounces.
These nice shoe clips are in excellent Estate condition with no noted flaws reflecting only minor signs of normal wear to the silver metal backs.
