(The United States and Havana, memories of a traveler) the majority of the book comprises a descriptive narrative of travel throughout the United States and Canada, including New York, Albany, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington, Louisville, New Orleans, Ohio and Ontario besides Cuba.
LOEWENSTERN, Isidore, Austrian traveller, born in Vienna in 1807; died in Constantinople, 1856. After completing his studies in Germany, he travelled extensively in the United States, Mexico, and the West Indies, and on his return to Europe published “Les États-Unis et la Havane, souvenirs d'un voyageur” (Paris, 1842) traveller and linguist narrative travel offering valuable information for social and intellectual conditions in America. Löwenstern, an Austrian, visited North American as part of a trip around the world.
