This is an antique 19th Century enamelled silver trinket box from Vienna, Austria in the 18th Century style.
The box is a little squat circular shape and has been highly decorated.

The main background of the box is a pastel pink colour with little lattices between the panels. It has an intricately painted lid depicting a group of people on a river scene on the top and a cherub carrying a basket of flowers on the under side of the lid.
There are 4 panels on the main body of the box that also have hand painted depictions of a courting couple and cherubs.
The inside of the box has been hand painted depicting a bird perched on a tree branch with a nest and the very base of the box has also been hand painted with a cherub holding a small harp and horn.
Really pretty.
The pictures really don't do this item justice as the light colours were getting faded in bright light and were going a funny ash colour when in dimmer light.
The silver mount is stamped on the bases' collar with maker's mark HB and date letter A.
The lid collar is only marked with an A.
In collectable condition with normal signs of age and
use wear.
A really SUPERB silver mounted enamel box which will look well in any collection of similar items.
No chips in the enamelling from what I can see but there are a few cracks which look like they happened before the box was painted. There is a deep gouge in the enamelling on the painting on the inner lid....all manufacturing faults. Not done after the box was made.
There are surface scuffs, especially on the base where it stands.
Remember it is 18th Century STYLE made in the 19th Century.. but it is no worse for that.. its a really superb enamel vanity box.

It measures approx. 4 inches dia. at its widest point on the base.
It measures approx. 3 and 1/4 inches in diameter on the top of the lid x 1 and 1/2 inch deep... it weighs approx.....184 grams.
