"Historical Marine Paintings"

by Geoff Hunt & Charles Mayes

When these are sold, price will rise to £12.50

Originally published to accompany Geoff Hunt's major one-man exhibition in London's West End in 2017, this book is both a fully-illustrated catalogue of the exhibition and the only published work that gives a survey of all the many aspects of the great marine artist's work.

Presenting over 80 illustrations of oil paintings, water colours and drawings, this lovely book features notes on each picture written by the artist himself as well as Geoff Hunt's introduction to the exhibition (his only one-man show) and his notes on each section of his career.

There are sections on "Patrick O'Brian and HMS Surprise", "Nelson and his Times", "America", "Book Illustrations" (including Ramage, Kydd and Hornblower), Watercolours and Drawings" plus a comprehensive listing of all the artist's limited editions published up to 2017.

Count Nikolai Tolstoy, Patrick O'Brian's stepson, supplied the most interesting Foreword and there is a Preface by Charles Mayes of Marine Artists, who has been a major dealer in and agent for Geoff Hunt's paintings for many years, outlining Geoff's importance as a marine artist and his extraordinary painting technique and in-depth researches.
