On offer is a 100% genuine photograph from an antique Oriental Photographic Album. The albums' contents consisted of numerous gelatin silver photo’s from the Meiji period with dates ranging from the 1860s to early 1900s. The contents of the album mainly featured “School of Yokohama” photographers works + a smattering of others, all taken from the original negatives & reproduced on very thin paper. A lot of these photos were hand coloured, some have faded with age while others have retained good sharp features and are a fascinating snapshot of life in Japan between 120 to 160 years ago.
This particular photograph was by Karl Lewis and has a Karl Lewis Studio stamp to the rear. It measures 135 mms x 80 mms & has been attached to professional grade acid free white cardboard backing. Small hole to top. The photo depicts a Mother & Childen. The exact age of the photo is unknown.
