Thin Pin 98 is a modern shoe repair trade term which refers to the thickness of the actual pin in inches which is driven into the heel. The two most common pin sizes are 120 and 115 but the new "thin pin" has become a more common size as shoes from the far east come to Europe.
It is important that there is a neat/tight fit.
- In most cases, simply remove the old heel tops with a pliers and firmly tap the new ones home with a small hammer.

If the old pins are difficult to remove, they may need to be drilled out or filed flush and hammered up the heel using the new pin as a punch.

One may find that the fitting is loose. If this is the case, flexi-tubes / spacers or wooden pegs will be needed to ensure a tight fit (not included)
