This is a new discovery for us, and no mention ANY of this incredible content on the internet!

In 1970's Britain, the French fashion photographer Guy Bourdin could be found driving around in a Cadillac with his family and a boot full of Charles Jourdan shoes and a pair of mannequins legs!

This was not a normal fashion shoot, there were no models and the light was variable so Bourdin used all his surrealist powers to construct an incredible campaign.  Jourdan and Bourdin had been working together on many individual images for unique ads in the photographers signature style. Years later a book was released to accompany a Bourdin retrospective in 2014 'Britain by Cadillac' showing these lesser known images. A key aspect of Bourdin's style was they he never shot for the exhibition wall, his canvas was always the magazine page and this is your chance to buy one of these rare images in the wild as they were meant to be seen.

The Bourdin ad shows the mannequin legs walking past a series of iconic British bathing huts.  The double sided Jourdan magazine ads were on a tryptech fold out page and could be cut out and framed, it looks exquisite!

British photographer Clive Arrowsmith has shot the other Jourdan ad on the reverse of the page, the shoes are laid out in a desert setting.

Elsewhere in this classic 1970's British fashion magazine there is car fashion by Norman Parkinson 6 pages.    Parkinson, in his irreverent style has also posed his models on two Easy Rider long forked motorbikes!

This issue also has a brilliant feature by Peter York on Mods that references much of its history and includes references to a very rare fashion shoot with Mark Feld AKA Marc Bolan. A very early photo of Mark as a mod is shown in a triptych of '3 stages of'; young, teen and now.  This feature is repeated for Steve Ellis and David Bowie as well as others. It'.s a great feature 6 pages including the Diary of a Mod. Images of mods in Margate, mods and their scooters, mods at a zine launch etc etc.  It's a really remarkable feature!

Jeremy Irons is interviewed and there is a very rare surreal portrait of the actor by Brian Griffin.

Tribute to fashion designer and king of draping Charles James who had recently passed.  6 pages with lots of rare photos of the couturier that Cristobel Balenciaga called 'the best'! One with Jerry Hall.
