Condition: Rare stamp with original PF cert signed by Larry Lyons as shown...
***These are genuine Type V reprints, the 1875-6 JW Scott reprints, that were printed on different paper in 3 colors (brighter red, blue and black)***...
The Scott specialized catalog has a footnote after the listing for 87L26 referring to these JW Scott reprints as stamp that were valid for postage and give the stamp 87L52 as an example of the Scott specialized listed JW Scott reprint of 1875-6 that so far has been listed in the catalog...stock BZ 72
After an exhaustive search for comps, there is one 3 margin black color variety stamp with staining that sold in the Siegel sale 1230 for $500 + their commission...(this stamp also has a PF cert #421061)...there are no other comps, and no other PF certified 87L26 VAR type V reprints in their census...you can search these 2 resources for more information...this is an incredibly rare find...
Another reference for these stamps is Volume 2 of: The Identifier of Carriers, Locals, Fakes, Forgeries and Bogus Posts of the United States published by Larry Lyons in 1998...
