Vintage Southfield Luggage Canvas Safari Style Carry on or Game Bag: Circa 1980  Collectors Item: New Old Stock with Tags

For your consideration: An amazing Southfield Game bag for the connoisseur and collector. This bag was manufactured in France for the Southfield Luggage Company over 30 years ago.  It is elegant, stylish and comparable to La Chasse. It is also virtually impossible to find today.  Indulge yourself!

I purchased it from a very well-known Safari Outfitting store near my hometown in Connecticut. They have been in storage, and never used.

While the bag was designed to hold game and hunting items, it classic and timeless look make it perfect as a carry-on, or carry-all for any number of things. It is large enough to hold canvases and presentation panels, or enough clothes for a weekend getaway.

The body of the bag is canvas. It is trimmed and edged with beautifully tanned leather.  The buckles and rings are all solid brass. A leather-trimmed canvas strap expands from about 22 to 40".

The bag measures 27" in length. It is 17" deep, and expands to 14" at the bottom.  There are two sides to the bag. One side has two large compartments, featuring a removable waterproof liner. It is designed to hold game. The actual compartment walls are canvas. The two compartments are secured by a central buckle and strap.

The opposite side of the bag is lined with faux-pigskin. Two adjustable leather straps on each side of the bag secure the top flap.

I do not know the history of Southfield Luggage. I believe they made these hunting bags for a brief period, and sold them at select high-end retailers.

If you invest in this, you have almost a one-of-a-kind collector's item. There are no others anywhere in New Condition I am awae of.
