Damon Lunn is a contemporary abstract landscape painter born in Harrogate, North Yorkshire. Interested in the art world since his early childhood, Damon pursued contemporary fine art and product design engineering after 5 years in the British military. Structure and design considered; Damon Lunn quickly learns new painting techniques to encourage the visual integrity. Mixing different styles and ultimately creating an amalgamation through his canvases. He likes to mix different materials and combine them with classical painting techniques. Such as Acrylic, oil, and marker pen, giving life to his sometimes surreal but always abstract expressionist paintings. Damon Lunn’s paintings are part of the universe of artists who fascinate him, such as Willem de Kooning, Picasso or Mark Rothko to name a few. He constantly builds and deconstructs objects and buildings into his works in their raw state, developing structure within his paintings. In this process, de-construction is as important as construction.

My Natural Landscape art is a depiction of a visual reality and the Landscape Architecture, I use shapes, vista, colours, forms, and gestural marks to achieve its fine art effect. As a local scenic artist to North Yorkshire, I use the surrounding mountain vista, sunset landscape, and scenery for inspiration on canvas, sometimes incorporating the city landscape. I also paint from my travels around Europe, places such as Lake Annecy, Collioure, Languedoc-Roussillon, Provence to the Pyrenees Mountains.

This artwork is unique in the sense it is combining two different styles to achieve a new painter’s perspective in abstract form combining plein air and abstract landscapes. As an artist I enjoy using acrylic paints, and mixed media to achieve expressionism and can be seen to resemble post-impressionist artworks with the Impressionism Sunrise in the background.
