The paintings produced mostly in collage style three-dimensional effect as superimposed prints.
The so-called "Tromp d'œuil" are the human eye deceptive paintings, which are often called as quodlibets. Quodlibets drawn more pictures that show an accumulation of disordered little things and they are usually executed in the form of graphical sheets, trompe-l'œil, however, are more likely than painting. Quodlibet motifs are present here as often deceptively real-looking documents, some with rolled corners. Quodlibets often also give objects faithfully shown that hang for example on a wooden wall.
Quodlibets were a key part in the development of European still life painting, which emerged in the late 17th and 18th centuries, particularly in Holland and Flanders. Of the most influential works include Quodlibet by Cornelis Gijsbrechts (1675) and Quodlibet by Edward Collier (1701).
