This is an antique black lacquered wood with inlaid white period material frame / wall plaque that has 2 hand painted portrait miniatures oval inset into the front. They both have brass oval frames around them with glass in front. 

Dusty inside. 

The portraits are of a couple, a young woman and a young gent. 

Good fine detail on both portraits which I would say are late Georgian early Victorian in period. 

Both portraits have been signed by a Thiete or it could be something as simple as Tailor ?! 

The plaque is made of a dark wood with an inlaid white coloured border. The back is covered in a blue fabric. I have NOT been into the back.... it could do with getting into and then taking the dust out from between the portraits and the glass and then they would look much better but of course that should only be done by the collector. 

The glass is period too as its got a really nice air bubble in the gents glass near the top and a possible flake off at the bottom inside at the 6 o'clock position. 


In collectable condition with normal signs of age and use wear. The portraits are very light in colour so I'm not sure if they have faded over time. There is a chip on the inner glass of the gent's portrait. Not sure how that's happened.
There are a few holes in the back fabric where it looks like someone has tried to cut one of the portraits out but given up half way through. There are also some splodges of glue on the back.
There are some cracks in the front wood pieces etc. The bottom edge of the frame is missing showing the base wood.

A good honest antique portrait miniature of a couple which has not been messed about with.


It measures approx. 7 and 3/8 inches x 4 and 7/8 inches in total.
The portrait miniatures measure approx. 60mm x 50mm excluding the frame.

Scale is usually an English 1 penny coin which is 20mm in diameter which is just short of 7/8ths of an inch in diameter.

Shipping to European countries: I have taken the decision to KNOCK ALL SALES TO EUROPE ON THE HEAD from today 12/11/21 due to me getting increasing numbers of items being stuck in CUSTOMS at the various countries namely Italy - France - Spain - Germany - Netherlands. The postal service to Italy has never been good anyway and it was always a worry as to whether an item would be delivered or stolen whilst on route within the country. Since the UK left the EU those countries have penalised their people by adding the customs duty and by holding onto packages for up to 6 months ( Italian buyer ) whilst they get through them, all this having a knock-on effect on me as the sender. I have got more "WHERE IS MY ITEM" disputes recently and the amount of items that eventually turn up is shocking. All this is out of my control so I will not be selling to buyers in those countries, to save myself and buyers headaches and money in the long run. The ebay estimated time of arrival of items to those countries are WRONG and you can add 2 months to it and cannot be trusted at the moment.
