Welcome to ANTIQUES & MOORE!

This listing is for a stunning American Brilliant Period large cut glass vase made by Libbey in their rare ELLSMERE pattern, c. 1880-1900. The vase has a bulbous shape with a wide flare at the top and the design includes the notched prism design combined with large cane cuttings that Libbey is known for. The lower portion of the vase includes fan cuttings that alternate with deep and shallow cut miters. The base is cut with a multi-point star with a hobstar center. To make the vase even more impressive, the top is mounted with a 2.5" wide heavy Sterling Silver border made by Reed & Barton. On the center front of the Sterling top is a fancy monogram "D H". Silver is marked with the Reed & Barton trademark stamp and "Sterling, 430".

Measures 12 3/4" high with a 7" diameter top. Weighs 6 pounds.

This amazing vase is in excellent Estate condition with no noted flaws although there is rubbing around the perimeter of the base from normal wear. There are a few small no-harm dings to the rim of the silver top and an area where the top is slightly out-of-round otherwise the silver is in very good condition. There may be a tiny nick in the glass design somewhere that we have missed, however, we have looked the vase over carefully and find no other flaws.
