    • This Japanese craft, called Ikkambari, is a bamboo basket coated with a few sheets of Japanese papers, WASHI,
    and persimmon tannin was applied a few times on it, which increases durability, water resistance, and antiseptic effect.

    Ikkambari had supported the lives of Japanese people for a long time in Japan, but it was gradually ending its role
    because this type of handicrafts are very costly to make these days.
    But recently, its charm has been recognized again, and the number of fans is increasing.

    This handicraft was made by a craftsperson living in Tohoku region in Japan.
    The craftsperson in her 70's makes Ikkambari one by one only when she really wants to. 
    40+ years of her experience as a craftsperson makes the item special.

    In this special work, not only Japanese paper, WASHI, but also patterned cloth is used to cover the bamboo basket.

    How To Properly Care For the Basket
     a. Don't leave it wet. It may change its color or damage it. 
     b. Wipe the moisture off the basket with a tissue or dry cloth.
     c. Don't wash it. Use dry cloth, towel, or tissue to clean it.
        (Well squeezed cloth would be OK to use)
     d. Don't use dish washer. 
     e: Don't expose it to direct sunlight for a long time.
