This is a vintage brooch that is made from a piece of jade or similar green hard stone, maybe chalcedony someone else said with a faceted clear stone mounted into the surface.

The inset clear stone is registering on my tester as a clear Quartz or clear Topaz. It is NOT glass.

It is very unusual and I cannot find anything quite like it when I google it.

It may well be a really good designer bespoke makers item. I really do not know.

It has been mounted in a silver frame that has been shaped around the hard stone. It is a completely abstract shape.
The back of the silver has been stamped with a few markings including an impressed LOVE HEART - CIRCLE - FOLIAGE like marks and 2 old font maker's mark MG but no hallmark.

If you look at the back you will see various marks on the silver and I am wondering if this has been something else first, cut up and re made into a brooch mount, maybe as a designer school project.

It is very strange but interesting at the same time.

In collectable condition with normal signs of age and use wear. The silver is really scratched on the back, mostly near the inset stone setting. Not sure what's gone on there.

The pin is barely reaches the clasp and to be fair wants looking at.

Please see pictures provided for more details and visual confirmation of condition.

It measures approx. 48mm x 40mm...it weighs approx. 23.2 grams.

I actually really like the brooch but would like to know more about it if someone would be kind enough to shed a bit of light on it for me please... cheers. Lee.
