Vintage Hand-Woven Home Decor Basket This is one of our vintage baskets. It was bought more than 25 years ago in Panama. These baskets are woven by the Wounaan and Embera Indians of the Darien region. The fiber is from a palm and the dyes are all natural. They are all hand woven. ⭐ARTISAN MADE: by Panamanian indigenous artisans using passed Basket weaving techniques that are rooted deep in Embera and Wounaan traditions. Created by hand, demonstrating the unique skill of the Panama artisan community, and supporting one-of-a-kind pieces in a world homogenized by mass production. ⭐FAIR TRADE & MADE IN PANAMA: Made under safe working conditions and fair income. Our Vintage woven baskets are proudly made in Panama. ⭐THE BASKET STORY: The Wounaan and Embera people from the rainforest in Darien province of Panama are master artisans. The baskets are hand woven using natural fibers found in the forest. A variety of reeds and palm fibers are normally used. Chunga, the fiber of the black palm, is the fiber of choice among the weavers. The colors are produced with natural extracts of plants and earth, using the traditional methods for dyeing basket fibers. Seldom, if ever, are two baskets alike. The original designs usually portray life in the village, local animals and insects, or plant life. Income earned from the sale of these lovely baskets reduces the need to destroy the rainforest ⭐WOMEN FOUNDED: MolaMagic was envisioned by Janet Marie Brockman with the mission to empower the Indigenous Women of Color of Panama by helping them reach a global market for their handmade products.
