This is a certificate which relates to the THE MOTHERS' UNION, an organisation founded to unite mothers of all kinds who bring up their children in the Christian Faith. This shows the Madonna & Child (Mary & Jesus) and sets out the Objects, the Prayer and the acknowledgements which include love, help and fidelity to the member's husband as well as pledging to baptise and raise their children in the ways of Christ.
Later on, an 'Endeavour' sets out that the member shall defend their home from 'intemperance, betting, gambling, bad language and other evils'.
A chain design to the edge sets out the international nature of the Union by listing numerous world locations (from within the British Empire).
