【Introduction】 In 1980, in order to meet the needs of the newly formed rapid deployment force, the United States decided to develop a wheeled infantry fighting vehicle according to the outline of the LAV light armored vehicle. Tactical and technical indicators that meet the requirements of both parties. In 1981, there were 8 proposals submitted by 7 enterprises, and 3 of them participated in the 1982 competitive comparison test with 4 models. In September 1982, the U.S. military officially announced that the diesel engine division of General Motors Canada had won the bid, and named the Piranha wheeled armored vehicle (8×8) provided by the company as the LAV-25 wheeled armored vehicle. The vehicle is actually a wheeled infantry fighting vehicle, produced by the Diesel Division of General Motors Canada under license from the Swiss company Mowager.
